The runner breed originates in Southeast Asia and is known for their unique upright posture. They were originally bred for high egg production but have lost this quality in the United States over the years due to emphasis on other characteristics during breeding. Runners are good foragers. Due to the genetic traits of blue poultry, off spring could be silver, black or blue in color.
