The origins of the Pekin duck in the United States date back to 1873 when they were first imported from China. Since that time, the Pekin has become the most popular duck breed on the market today. The birds have creamy white feathers with orange legs, toes and bills. Pekin ducks are fast growers and are the premier meat duck raised. The Pekin duck became a recognized breed by the American Poultry Association in 1874.
